Your Out Of A Job And The Paychecks Have Come To An End

I was downsized …. What do I do next?

You need to get a plan of action together NOW!

The help you need is here!   OK, you’ve been laid off, cut, let go, down sized, involved in a force reduction. How ever you want to say it to be politically correct. BOTTOM LINE IS your out of a job and the paychecks are coming to an end. You need to pull yourself up by your boot straps and get a plan of action together NOW! I have been unemployed several times before so I learned many of the tips and tricks on this website the hard way.

Life is not on auto pilot anymore. You need to take this very seriously, this is the worst economy since the Great Depression and our President said last week that things are expected to get worse before they get better and that it will take 10 months or more before we start to see a turn around. I used to recommend that people look for additional ways to earn income to help supplement their unemployment checks. Now I recommend putting a back up plan together to totally provide for you and your family.

WHY? Because not only are people becoming unemployed at record rates but they are even using up there extended unemployment benefits in record numbers. After extended benefits are gone you are out of luck because you aren't getting government help anymore. I am not trying to scare you but I am trying to let you know the reality of the situation. I can't emphasize this enough....It is brutal in the job market these days.

You need to look into some simple overlooked ways that you can save money and you need to figure out just what it’s going to take to pay those bills and to put food on the table. Here are some proven ways to make some extra income...many earn full time incomes for some of the things listed. Part time work from home while unemployed

The First Step After Your Laid Off

The first thing that you should do is read this page in it's entirety there is some critical  information that you need to know. I put a link to your states unemployment office at the bottom of this page so you'll be able to jump there quickly when the time comes. ( don't procrastinate, I'll explain why as you read further )  you will need to see if you qualify for your unemployment benefits first. Don’t be proud and don’t deceive yourself into thinking that you’ll have a job in a week or two.  If you do that’s great but I always say plan for the worst and hope the best. Remember you have been paying into the unemployment system just for such a rainy day as this. You have as much right to collect benefits as anyone else.

It might take two to three weeks or longer to collect your first check, with this economy and the state unemployment office so overwhelmed with people seeking unemployment benefits we really don't know. You need to file for your benefits as soon as possible.

Here is a tip that many unemployed people don't know about.

If you are unemployed I have to let you in on a little secret that most unemployed people never think about. It is called Government Grants.
When most people think about grants they think that they are for "other people" and that they wouldn't qualify. This is so totally wrong.

The fact is, even if your unemployed you can get money to pay off some debts or you can get money to go back to college to attain new career skills. There is money available to pay medical bills and even money for personal needs. As crazy as it sounds even with all the debt that our government has these programs are still available. Who knows how much longer they will be available.

Just to give you a quick example. Right now in 2010 there are government programs in place to help people affected by the poor economy from loosing their homes. This has been in the news papers and on TV and the radio and still many people don't take the helping hand that the government is offering.
Frankly I don't understand it. Millionaires like Donald Trump, Dick Cheney, Sam Donaldson and even G.W.Bush have gotten grants. I have gotten  several grants for thousands of dollars over the years and you can too but I can also guarantee that you will never get a grant if you never apply. That's most peoples problem they have an attitude of defeat before they even try.

I'm trying to tell you these grants are for the average person too. It happens every day. Many people are familiar with the PAL grant for collage tuition. These other types of grants are the same idea but fewer people know about them.

I have to be up front with you. These folks know that they have a valuable resource so they do charge you a small fee for the help and information.

Here is the kicker that you should think about. They give you an 8 week trial. So my recommendation is to get the materials follow the instructions and submit the forms.

If you get the grants that you applied for you will be ecstatic and if you don't get them you haven't lost a penny.

Step 2 : You need to put your resume in at these two sites below. There are other good Job sites but these are the biggest and best. They are both free right now !

* There were more sites listed here but some sites are requiring a fee for posting your resume with them now. Posting your resume on these well known web sites has been such an effective way to get the word out to potential employers that some of the larger web sites figured people would start paying for this service that once was free. This is a FREE way to get your name and resume out to thousands of potential employers. Take a few minutes now and post your resume before these three web sites don't offer the free service any more.

Just click on the links below and both sites will walk you through a very simple process to post your resume for free.

Don't waste your time

The above three web sites are great and you definitely want to post to them even if you do nothing else. However if you want maximum exposure It will take you 50 to 60+ hours on average to post your resume to all of the different job sites after you find them all. If you want to get your resume posted quickly and to as many of these Job sites as possible then you may want to consider one of these resume posting and distribution services. ( NOTE: you don't have to use the ones I recommend I just know that these companies are reputable )

FACT: 20 Times More Effective - proactive resume delivery to a recruiter's email inbox is up to 20 times more effective than just posting your resume to a job board.

These services below are not free but do you have to ask yourself if you want to spend 50 to 60+ hours researching the web, gathering lists, searching classified ads, stuffing envelopes, sending faxes and logging countless e-mails when you can use a resume distribution service! They are quick, easy and best of all, affordable. There's simply no better way to promote yourself in today's marketplace. Most of your competition WILL NOT make the investment.  You need to decide if you are going to take control of your unemployment situation and make things happen or if you will just take what happens to dribble your way. Do you really want the edge on your competition? Yes, I am trying to sell you on this type of service. I don't care if you use one that I recommend or not but the KEY is to use a resume distribution service! because it leaves the competition in the dust. :o)

Put yourself in the Employers shoes.

Do you want to hire someone who takes control, gets things done and doesn't make excuses OR Do you want to hire a wishy washy complainer who always blames someone else for their misfortune. When you look at it this way it's a no brainier isn't it?

I know that I'm being hard on you but I have been in your shoes several times before so I know what it takes to land that next job. Networking (having a friend refer you to their friend or company) is the best way to land a new job and a distribution service is the second best way.

Here are two of the best resume distribution services.

What ! you say that you don't have a resume. Well you better get working on one quickly. A resume is the life blood of successful job hunting. Depending on the Job your seeking, you will in many cases be competing with hundreds of people who have a very good resume. So you need a Great ! resume.
