Here are 5 "battle tested" unique tips
Feel Confident During the Interview
by J. Damian BirkelHere are 5 "battle tested" unique tips collected from Professionals In Transition® Support Groups that will help you take charge of an interview:
(1)Meet the eyes of the interviewer, smile and use a firm handshake. Think before you speak, be mindful of your body language and watch your posture.
(2) Strive to build rapport with the interviewer. 90% of all jobs are based on an emotions...."If I like you I MAY hire you; if I don't...I won't." Be pleasant, know and use the interviewers name and smile often. Speak with confidence but avoid bluffing or exaggerating. Don't act conceited or try to take control of the interview.
(3) Demonstrate that you are ***THE*** answer to the employers needs...So often in the rush to make a good impression, job seekers fail to align themselves with the best interests of the interviewer, and fail to demonstrate how they can "be the answer" to an employers needs.
(4) Throughout the interview constantly strive to match YOUR ABILITIES with THE EMPLOYERS NEEDS. At the end of the interview summarize key points covered and reinforce how your abilities meet their needs now and in the future. Make sure that you understand the problems of the organization, the qualifications required and the expectations of the position.
(5) Send a thank you note within 24 hours of the interview. Be sure to mention key points discussed in the interview and reinforce in writing that you ***ARE THE ANSWER*** to the employers needs.
